Local 505 President
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
I have been honored to be your President during the past 10 years; as of August 19, 2016 I will be stepping down as President to take on a new role within the organization. While I am not sure how long this new position will last, I know I would not be able to give our Local the time and attention it deserves. So as of August 20, 2016, Jennifer Platt will assume the duties of the President per the Local 505 bylaws.
I know I probably didn’t meet everybody’s expectations, but I assure you I always kept the contract and our TWU Constitution in the forefront of all the decisions we made as a Local and I always had the membership’s interests at heart. Jennifer will continue to enforce the contract, but she can’t do it alone; she needs help from all of you.
With that said, I would like to thank some people who have helped me along the way. Robert Todd and Skip Hvorka, thank you for staying engaged and keeping Title 2 TWU members involved and represented. I’d like to thank Dirk Ault who stepped up and served a term as Financial Treasurer when no one else would. I’d like to thank Bill Saffings and Herb Brown for getting involved and trying to make a difference. I would like to thank Jennifer Platt who has done more than any of you can imagine. Jennifer has done more for the Union and the membership and myself on her own time than you will ever know, and that takes a special person, thank you. Then there is Marcy Bruin. Marcy, you have been there with me from the beginning. You and I have been through a lot. We didn’t always agree, but I wouldn’t change any of it for a minute. Just saying thank you doesn’t seem like it’s enough, but THANK YOU! There are many others over the years I would also like to thank from HNL, SEA, SJC, and SLC. Thank you all for teaching me and keeping me in line.
The members of Local 505 will always hold a special place in my heart. I will continue to be with all of you in Local 505 and will still be available, but just in a different capacity.
Sincerely and fraternally,
President TWU Local 505
